Documents for living and working

Whenever it is necessary to visit a government office, it is important to arrive 15-30 minutes before opening time in order to take a number and get faster service. Typical opening hours for government offices is 7:30am and 1:30pm. No government offices work during lunch time or weekends.

Whenever submitting documents at any government office, they must be originals or they must be notarized copies. In some cases, originals are necessary, so be prepared by taking both originals and notarized copies.

Notarized copies (certified copies)

Required documents:

  • original signed or stamped document
  • 1 photocopy of each original document for the notary to keep
  • Any number of photocopies for you to get notarized and keep

Submission location: People’s Committee of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City

Temporary residence card of 2 years (thể tạm trú)

Required documents:

  • Business visa paper from sponsoring organization, stamped and signed at Vietnam’s embassy or consulate in your own country
  • Forms NA6 (with sponsoring organization’s stamp) and NA8
  • Certified copy of organization’s business license
  • Original international passport
  • Certified copy of complete passport
  • Certified copy of work permit
  • Temporary residence confirmation from local police district (xác nhận tạm trú)
  • Color photos sized 2×3, taken on white background, without hat and without glasses
  • Dossier/portfolio cover (purchased at document submission location for 5,000+ VND)

Document submission location for Ho Chi Minh City: 196 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai (photo print service available)

Note: Documents must be submitted at immigration services in the province where the organization/employer is licensed, or the province stated on the work permit.
